When Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she isn’t allowed to touch a telescope or express an original idea. Instead, she joins a group of women “computers,” charting the stars for a renowned astronomer who calculates projects in “girl hours” and has no time for the women’s probing theories. As Henrietta, in her free time, attempts to measure the light and distance of stars, she must also take measure of her life on Earth, trying to balance her dedication to science with family obligations and the possibility of love. The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries, when women’s ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them. Social progress, like scientific progress, can be hard to see when one is trapped among earthly complications; Henrietta Leavitt and her female peers believe in both, and their dedication changed the way we understand both the heavens and Earth.

The Garden Theatre closes its 5th anniversary season with Stephen Sondheim’s classic Company, starring Founding Artistic Director Logan Vaden as Bobby alongside a cast made up entirely of Garden Theatre favorites.
On the night of his 35th birthday, Bobby finds himself unable to decide on a wish as he blows out his candles. A confirmed bachelor surrounded by “those good and crazy people”—his married friends—Bobby is torn between accepting his life as it is and wondering if something (or someone) is missing.
Through a series of dinner parties, first dates, and candid conversations, Bobby explores the highs, lows, and absurdities of modern relationships, gaining insight into marriage, commitment, and his own persistent bachelorhood. Stephen Sondheim’s groundbreaking musical is a mature, intelligent, and wildly funny look at love, vulnerability, and what it truly means to be alive.
*Join The Garden Theatre on Saturday, April 11 at 8pm to celebrate the theatre’s 5th birthday and Logan Vaden’s 35th birthday with cake and a complimentary champagne toast following the performance.*

In a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia two Englishmen, Froggy and Charlie, arrive as guests. The shy Charlie agreed to accompany Froggy on the trip after his sick wife begged him to go. When people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, however, he remains silent: he is terribly shy, depressed about his wife's illness, and cannot find the words to reply. Froggy claims that Charlie cannot talk because he is a "foreigner" from an exotic country, and does not understand English. Taking the explanation that he's a non-English speaker as fact, the lodge's guests quickly begin revealing their secrets, and Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge.

In the spring, CTC returns to the Bard with one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, Othello. This marks the company’s first Shakespearean tragedy since 2013’s Hamlet.
The story follows Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army, as he is manipulated by his ensign, Iago, into believing that his wife, Desdemona, has been unfaithful. Consumed by jealousy and mistrust, Othello’s descent leads to devastating consequences.
Exploring themes of racism, jealousy, and manipulation, Othello remains one of Shakespeare’s most searing and timeless works.
Directed by CTC Executive Artistic Director John Johnston, who previously directed Three Sisters and performed in The School for Scandal (2023).
