Blending historical fact with psychological drama, this gripping work examines the burden of command, the complexities of accountability, and the enduring scars of war. Stark, immersive, and unflinching, In the Soundless Awe draws audiences into the final nightmare of a man forever tethered to the sea, and to the silence that followed, where answers remain as elusive as the depths themselves.

Mozart’s adventure unfolds in a whimsical nineteenth-century hotel, where a suffragette Queen of the Night and a chef named Sarastro inhabit a world of puppets, surprises, and magical trials. This imaginative staging pairs comedy with the opera’s search for wisdom and love. Sung in German with projected English translation. Approximately 3 hours 10 minutes, including one intermission.

The Who’s groundbreaking rock opera follows Tommy Walker, who retreats into himself after witnessing a traumatic event and later becomes an unlikely celebrity through his extraordinary talent for pinball. The score includes “I’m Free,” “See Me, Feel Me,” “Sensation,” and “Pinball Wizard.”

Winner of the 2010 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play. On the night of April 3, 1968, as the heralded words delivered that afternoon during his Mountaintop speech still echo outside, Dr. King sits inside Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel. Wrestling with his next speech and desperately craving a coffee and cigarette, enters Camae, the motel’s quick witted, attractive maid supplied with refreshment and some down home, tell-it-like-it-is wisdom. Their teasing banter soon leads to powerful exchanges on family, race, love, mortality, and legacy. Funny, tender, and at times magical, Katori Hall’s play is a poignant reflection of the father, husband, and devoted man behind the legend.

The winter production will be CTC’s return to the Norwegian master himself, in Henrik Ibsen’s iconic tragedy, Hedda Gabler. This will be the company’s first foray into Ibsen since 2020’s award-winning Peer Gynt, which director John Johnston also helmed.

Hedda Gabler follows the newly married Hedda, who feels trapped by her conventional life and seeks excitement by manipulating the people around her. As her schemes grow more reckless, they contribute to the unraveling of relationships and the destruction of those closest to her. Unable to escape the consequences of her actions or the constraints of society around her, Hedda hurtles towards a dark destiny.

Directed by CTC Executive Artistic Director, John Johnston, who most recently directed last season’s critically-acclaimed Othello, and appeared on CTC’s stage when he portrayed Joseph Surface in The School for Scandal in 2023.
