Memorial is a large, mid-gentrified neighborhood in the American South, where just about every kind of American life can be found within its fifteen miles. When a group of Memorial High School theater students have their production of The Laramie Project shut down by the school board, they decide to make their own piece of documentary theater about the fight to do their play. Soon they find themselves on the frontlines of a hijinks-filled culture war that transforms Memorial and the students alike. The Sparkle Wars is a mockumentary and satire about how communities choose the stories that represent them. This production contains adult language and mature content, including discussions of violence and death.

As rumors swirl and assumptions unravel, the couple is forced to confront questions of identity, faith, marriage, and the limits of certainty itself.

Brilliantly witty, unexpectedly moving, and delightfully irreverent, Mr. & Mrs. Fitch skewers modern politics, media culture, and social conventions with Beane’s trademark intelligence and razor-sharp humor. Beneath its sophisticated comedy lies a thoughtful exploration of authenticity, acceptance, and the courage required to embrace life’s complexities. The winter production will be CTC’s return to the Norwegian master himself, in Henrik Ibsen’s iconic tragedy, Hedda Gabler. This will be the company’s first foray into Ibsen since 2020’s award-winning Peer Gynt, which director John Johnston also helmed.

Hedda Gabler follows the newly married Hedda, who feels trapped by her conventional life and seeks excitement by manipulating the people around her. As her schemes grow more reckless, they contribute to the unraveling of relationships and the destruction of those closest to her. Unable to escape the consequences of her actions or the constraints of society around her, Hedda hurtles towards a dark destiny.

Directed by CTC Executive Artistic Director, John Johnston, who most recently directed last season’s critically-acclaimed Othello, and appeared on CTC’s stage when he portrayed Joseph Surface in The School for Scandal in 2023.
