About the production
Jane Austen's beloved novel comes vividly to life in this witty and elegant stage adaptation by Eric Domuret. Faithful to Austen's timeless story, the play follows the spirited Elizabeth Bennet as she navigates family expectations, social convention, and her growing relationship with the enigmatic Mr. Darcy. Filled with memorable characters, sparkling dialogue, romance, and humor, this adaptation captures the wit and heart that have made Pride and Prejudice one of the world's most enduring love stories.
Originally commissioned by the University of St. Thomas, the adaptation received its world premiere there in 2017 before being published by Heartland Plays. Since then, it has been produced by professional, university, community, and secondary theatre companies across the United States and internationally. This production by Stoic Theatre at the University of St. Thomas is especially meaningful, as several members of the original world premiere cast return to reprise the roles they originated, nearly a decade after first bringing this adaptation to the stage.
