About the production
In rural Tennessee, a young woman becomes the target of suspicion and religious hypocrisy after church elders discover her bathing. Carlisle Floyd’s American opera draws on folk songs and revival music to tell a devastating story of innocence and exclusion. Angel Blue stars in Patricia Racette’s new production. Sung in English with projected English text. Approximately 2 hours 5 minutes, including one intermission. Contains adult themes and a gunshot.
